FT Island comes back with their 3rd album in a bright image, amidst the many female groups out in the industry right now.
“We intend to change our usual music style, that’s why we came up with the album title ‘Cross & Change‘. We want to try out a fresher and brigher image for this summer.”
Their previous albums were mainly focused on rock ballads and for this new album, they are trying out brighter and light-beat songs.
Composed by hit composer, Kim Dohun, their new title track, “Barae (I Hope)”, is a cross over between electronica and rock. The strong rap by new member, Song Seunghyun, is receiving lots of attention from fans.
Replacing ex-member, Oh Wonbin, Song Seunghyun expressed that, “I’m still feeling awkward at insecure at times but I’m trying my best not to make any mistake during performance. I will do much better to show all of you.”
Besides “Barae (I Hope)”, electronica and rock crossovers also include songs like “Monnani” and “Marry Me“. The addictive rock-n-roll styled “Bing Bing Bing” and other songs are also well-received. “Knowing From First Sight” is of reggae genre and it’s also the first song that all members sing together.
FT Island comes back with their new album amidst the many female groups out in the industry currently. “It feels good seeing our friends while doing our promotions,” said Lee Hongki, “We’re just putting in our efforts in our music and we’re not interested to get involved in any group rivalry.”
Members also revealed that, “It was a pity that we did not include our own composition in this album, although it was recorded previously in our Japanese album.”
Making use of their free time to practise, FT Island not only conquers the Korean music industry, but also received recognition overseas. It won’t be long before they drop their “idol” title.
