From Singapore’s Teenage magazine, August 2009 edition:
Treasure Hunt
In a rare performance here, Korean pop-rockers FT Island brought the house down!Despite the staggering ticket price ($100 for an hour-long showcase), 900 die-hard fans showed up at Dragonfly St. James Powerhouse on 27 June, to witness the K-pop phenomenon, also known as FT Island, in Singapore for a one-day only performance.
The five-piece pop rock outfit, which consists of Lee Hongki (lead vocals), Song Seunghyun (vocals/guitar), Choi Jonghoon (piano/guitar), Lee Jaejin (bass) and Choi Minhwan (drums), showed why they are one of K-pop’s biggest and most promising boy band around!(GOOD) – Energy Never Dies
Trust lead singer Lee Hongki to crank up the atmosphere, as he pranced and shimmied his way into the hearts of FT Island’s loyal fans!
The natural showman was an unstoppable force of energy, his powerful vocals surging forth at times in an attempt to break the sound barrier.
And the host/singer sure knows how to get the crowd going – besides proclaiming his love for the audience in broken English, he collected DIY placards and pentasticks (yellow flags carried by fans) from those in the mosh pit and waved them proudly for the entire duration of the show – an act that won him deafening screams from the crowd!
Music Mongers
With their cheeky grins, playful ways and pop idol good looks, FT Island has often been dubbed the “handsome band”, but they’ve proved themselves to be so much more!
Not only did each of the multi-talented teenagers (their age ranges from 16 to 19) showcase their unqiue musical talents as they banged out hits like “Love Is”, “Bad Woman” and “FT Island”, they’re also dabbling in acting, musicals and hosting! Talk about being young overachievers!
New & Improved
FT Island fans, also known as Primadonnas, would know this: Guitarist/Vocalist Song Seunghyun is the latest member to join the popular boy group after former member Oh Wonbin left the group early last year.
Judging by the mountain of fan pressies left for him at the entranace, this cheery baby of the group (he’s the youngest) is quickly making his presence felt, even before the releae of their third album at the end of July!
Says Song Seunghyun in Korean during an earlier press conference, “I know I have some pretty big shoes to fill and I feel slightly pressurised to keep up with the band. But now I’ve gotten used to it.”
(Bad) – Time Out
Ending just slightly over an hour, FT Island practically did a touch-and-go during the showacase, despite the fact that they performed 11 of their bestselling hits.
Don’t blame us for feeling a little let down by the boys.
After all, they almost never ever make an appearance anywhere beyond Korea!
Do not hotlink, do not crop credits, and only take out with proper credits!
